Altec Lansing XA3051 Speaker System
Page 2 - Packaging and Installation
The box that enclosed the XA3051 System was very similar to the Altec 251 System. It clearly illustrates the style of the speakers, along with its features and specifications. Inside the box, each speaker was wrapped in plastic bags with their cables twist tied and surrounded by Styrofoam. Also included with the system is a quick start guide, an instruction manual, a wired 'remote' control, and optional wall mounts.

Installing the XA3051 was very easy. The Quick Start Guide provides very simple and efficient diagrams to aid any beginners in the installation process. The speaker's position is labeled on the back of each unit. The labeled position corresponds with the label on the subwoofer allowing any individual to easily connect the cables to the correct socket. Although this system was not shape-coded (like the 251 System), it was still very easy to connect. There is by far enough wiring (20+ feet) for the back speakers just in case you have a large room. Provided with the back speakers are wall mounts so you can efficiently place the speakers for maximum surround sound.
AC Adapter

One thing that surprised me was how bulky and heavy the AC Adapter unit is (2.5 pounds) and how hot it gets when the unit is playing music. Overall, the time it took me to unpack and set up the sound system was less than 10 minutes. I congratulate Altec Lansing for another easy, simple installation and configuration.

The speaker design is innovative and appealing to the eye. Instead of the usual 'slick' appearance other Altec Lansing speakers possess, these speakers strive to catch your attention, with a green – grey – black combination. The model number (XA3051) is printed in neon on all the speakers. The plastic grey grills are present on all the speakers, and are remove able for cleaning. The subwoofer can be placed vertically or sideways, allowing it to fit in any place you want.

Overall, the speaker design will definitely catch anyone's attention. However, these speakers may not be suited for everyone; I myself would prefer a slick looking system to match the home theatre style.
