Hercules 3D Prophet III
Page 1 - A GeForce 3 with a color scheme
The GeForce3 chipset is a powerful addition to nVidia's growing family of chipsets.
The question I'm sure a lot of you are asking about the GeForce3 is, "Is it worth the
money?" To be quite honest, I cannot answer that question with a single answer because
there are many different kinds of computer users out there with different kinds of budgets.
If you keep reading, you can come to your own conclusion about the GeForce3 from one of the
best manufacturers, Hercules.
I am going to start this review from the outside in. This means I'm going to go from looks
to performance, with usability and features in the middle. This replicates the "out
of box, into computer" experience the most accurately, in my opinion.
The Hercules 3D Prophet 3 has a very unique look to it, which I feel is just bad ass.
Hercules has taken the time to not only make the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) blue, like the
previous GeForce2 cards, but put on a matching custom Blue Orb. I realize having your video
card color coordinated does not help with performance any, but it does not hurt any either.
This is an especially nice feature when you have a plexiglass window so people can see inside
your computer. It just looks nice.

Hercules took great steps in keeping their card cool. On one of their previous GeForce2
cards some people had complaints about the heatsinks on the DDR-RAM not being secured well,
which would create heat pockets. This is not the case this time around. The heatsinks are
secured very well and the Blue Orb makes for an appealing addition for the cooling of the
core.

The card was just as easy to install as any other video card. Went in without any problems
and the drivers installed without a hitch. The software package is pretty standard for a
"white box" package. I received a PowerDVD license and the standard Hercules
GeForce Detonator driver.

That's enough about installation and looks, let me move onto what the card has to offer.
The card has some very beneficial features and performance to offer.
