I work in an IT Dept. I had a user ask me to check his computer (500mhz laptop with 64mb)as it was running very slow. I sit down and the first thing I notice is 12 windows open and the entire desktop filled with Icons (mostly personal software). So I check his hard drive and he has 53MB of free space on a 6gig drive. Gee wonder why it's so slow.
Some of you may remember the "Stealth" series by IBM. Basicaly they were Jet black PCs that had the Floppy and CDrom detached in a seperate unit. So you could have this small console unit on your desk with the cdrom and floppy and keep the tower stashed away out of site (up to six feet away).
Like I said before, the whole thing was jet black.
Anywho, the cdrom went dead in this customer's console unit, so we charge him 50$ for a 48x WHITE faced cdrom. The customer flipped out that the faceplate was white and demanded that we get a black faced cdrom for the unit. We explained in vain that the white faced cdrom was superior in speed and quailty and that a black faced cdrom from IBM would cost about 300$ and be slower than the white faced cdrom (the IBM one was 8x).
The customer wasn't having any of it. He paid the 300$ for the black faced cdrom and waited a week for IBM to send it to us.
It makes me sick to know that these people have that kinda money to throw away on garbage because the color isn't right.
